The fundamental principles of Homeopathy were established by German researcher Samuel Hahnemann in 1796 when he validated the concept of ‘like cures like’. He conducted series of experiments on himself and a group of volunteers to find the efficacy of this theory and came out victor along with the facts to authenticate his theory. An essential adjunct of dilutions and succussions was also developed to develop the practical cures and treatments in homeopathy in accordance with the principle of ‘like cures like’ which forms the scientific basis of homeopathy as is practiced today around the world.

At the time of documentation of the homeopathic principles and theories by S. Hahnemann, the scientific community got skeptical about the claims made by him, terming the theory as contradictory! According to Hahnemann, the symptoms caused by a particular substance in the human body could be effectively treated by small and regulated doses of the same substance. He suggested the concept of dilutions for determining such doses that need to be administered at regular intervals. He was inspired from his finding when he found that taking quinine as extracted from the cinchona bark induced malaria symptoms in him while the same drug also offered to treat malaria! He then conducted several experiments to validate his findings on a scientific basis.
The core scientific theory involved in ‘like cures like’ principle is that the body is stimulated through the diluted intake of a particular substance and thus develops a self healing mechanism that is very generic and effective. Homeopathy has been in practice for past 200 years and has been evidenced through dedicated results in favor of the patients who found cures for various diseases and conditions.
